Guy Woodland was born in Karachi and has lived and worked extensively in Australia, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Portugal, Brazil and the UK. He studied at Blackpool and Fylde College, earning a diploma in professional photography. He owns liverpoolphotos.com, an online global picture resource and operates internationally as a photographer.

He is a co-founder and vice-president of cities500, an internationally focused publishing house; and an associate of Barge Pole Press, a worldwide collaboration of writers, photographers and graphic designers.

He has previously published a range of books that include the popular photographic studies: The Life of Chester, The Life of the Gateway Theatre and the Life of Liverpool; as well as a profile of the acclaimed sculptor Stephen Broadbent; along with an architecturally focused book Shed KM. He also published World Heritage City, the acclaimed photo essay book inspired by UNESCO and its program of protecting glorious and historic sites and buildings. Another of his books is the large format, coffee table classic, Waterfront, a best selling photographic essay study of Liverpool’s hypnotic river frontage. He was also responsible for publishing a collection of show-biz celebrity Mike McCartney’s photographic memories in the critically acclaimed MMLL - Mike McCartney’s Liverpool Life, sixties black and whites.

Guy was also co-author of Liverpool: The First 1,000 Years, The Grand National Quiz Book and Cross the Mersey and The Christmas Day Liverpool Quiz book. As VP of cities500 he has also published The Friendship Arch, a book focusing on Shanghai and Liverpool; I CAN, YOU CAN the first in a series of education books; Urban Reflections - a collaboration with Hewlett Packard focusing on Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Wirral Waterfront, a remarkable photographic tribute to what is described as the jewel in the crown of the North West of England. He has recently published a special two volume book to celebrate the famous Open golf championship for 2006. To support the efforts of LIVE8 he published with Mike McCartney - Mike McCartney’s LIVE8, a behind the scenes look at LIVE8. The luxurious LIVE 8 book has the endorsement and full support of both the event’s creator Sir Bob Geldof and Sir Paul McCartney, both of whom have written personal forewords.

Currently he is working on 01513662008 - a record of all 366 days during Liverpool’s Capital of Culture Year. Also he is working towards an exhibition and publication examining the city’s UNESCO status. In addition he is publishing a book on Blackpool (the original Seaside destination). In additional with a foreword by HRH Prince Charles is a book due in the summer - Llangollen – Voices of the World, Softly Flows the Dee and and Mike McCartney’s and Willy Russell’s Liverpool.

He has two sons George and Henry and lives on Wirral.
