Everywhere in Liverpool seems to be busy this summer and in even on a sunny Monday in July people are still streaming into The Walker Art Gallery.  It could be Art In The Age Of The Steam Train, it could be Ben Johnson’s Cityscapes or it could be just to view the stunning permanent collection which includes classic works by the likes of Rossetti, Rembrandt, Monet and Turner to name but a few.

The blue skies are back and it’s temporarily summer again so everyone’s out Superlambanana spotting.  This one’s outside St.George’s Hall and should of been Goth or Emo themed as that’s where the ‘alternative’ kids like to hang out on a Saturday. It could have had a little Emo fringe and maybe there could of been two of them hugging each other.

Here discussing who is to play the lead role in Julia’s Banjo. The film based on fact explores the lost “Lennon Banjo”. Apparently Julia who was Lennon’s mum gave him a banjo, over the years it goes missing. Two americans from Texas find letters pertaining to its existence and the hunt is on.

Rob and Alan Fennah, a.k.a. ALTERNATIVE RADIO are two very motivated individuals who for their love of music and film tend to just get on and make things happen… watch this space.

Neil Alderton who is the director for the film heralds from greats such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale Farm and is very excited about the project. The film is to be premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, although we hope for a screening here in Liverpool or Wirral.

Pulse Record brothers Rob and Alan Fennah here with Neil Alderton working on the script of a major new film. Shooting is expected to start in the next few weeks.

Recently North Western Shiprepairers won an MOD contract for £250 over the next 10 years. There is talk of bringing back the name of “Camel Lairds” which as far as I know is the name locals have always used.

The statue at the top of the Streble Fountain next to Wellington monument. The Streble Fountain has a circular stone basin, with a bronze centrepiece of four figures, which are said to represent the four seasons. However, contemporary sources say the figures are of Neptune, Amphitrite, Acis, and Galatea. To coincide with the the Tall Ships Race in 1992 the fountain was restored by the Council. It is named after Streble, a former mayor of Liverpool, who presented it to the city.
