When Baa Bar opened in 1991, it was arguably Liverpool’s first modern trendy bar which has paved the way for countless others. Before Baa Bar people went to pubs before clubs and the Bold Street crowd hung out in the Tabac, as they still do now, and the pretentious Cafe Berlin which was half way up Bold Street in the mid-late 80’s. Here are the windows of Geisha on Myrtle Street, a bar opened by the Korova Corporation who in recent years have upped the evening entertainment stakes again with venues such as this oriental themed place alongside Alma De Cuba, Circo on the Albert Dock and of course Korova itself.
Third year illustration students from Liverpool John Moores University, Jess, Katie and Laura are masters of the the cheap night out. Only tonight I was told that Katie’s budget for Friday night was £3.00. ‘’Its a piece of p*ss’’ so Im told. First of all you drink as much cheap Vodka as you can, ‘’Its brought back from the folks holidays’’ (cheap as in £5 per litre!) and then ONE drink only while out for for the night. Apparently this can lead to quite a mess later on as the Vodka really catches up. Liverpool social scene during university term time is hectic with many many bars offering cheap deals to students, but I reckon that no-one can match the trios three quid booze ups!
